When Nobody’s Watching

Who are we when we believe that we’re unseen? I’ve heard people use the phrases “too honest,” “too direct,” and words such as “straightshooter” to describe those who choose to do what’s right instead of needing to be right. While we cry for justice and complain about what’s wrong with the world as a conversation starter, we seem to be simultaneously blind or avoidant- to our individual contributions to “the way things are.”

“Silent acts of kindness” refer to the rare & unseen acts of humanity that stand out in our current world. Why are kind acts so silent? Are they rare? How many of us are more comfortable with trauma bonding than we are with celebrating the success of our family, friends, and community? For every negative story we share, how many positive ones do we tell in the same sitting?

Where attention goes, energy flows, and results show.” We’re collectively living in the results of a lack of self-love and unintentionality when nobody’s watching.
