Global recording artist and community organizer Cole Williams returns with “The Whistleblower,” her first new single since breakout hit “A Better Woman” and her 2024 critically acclaimed studio album, How We Care For Humanity.
Press previously hailed “A Better Woman” as “a real soul diamond by singer-songwriter and activist Cole Williams, who created a powerful song of love and hope.” With “The Whistleblower,” Williams pivots inward, delivering a deeply personal and politically resonant meditation on healing, spiritual accountability, and radical acceptance.
“Whistleblowing includes all institutions,” Williams says. “Sometimes it’s about refusing spiritual oppression.”
Historically, Cole’s signature sound draws from the lineage of artist-activists including Nina Simone, Miriam Makeba, and Gil Scott-Heron, while echoing the soul consciousness of Erykah Badu and Lauryn Hill. Blending vintage soul instrumentation with percussive rhythms and Williams’ healing soul-inflected vocal delivery, “The Whistleblower” balances truth-telling with grace.
Beyond music, Williams is the founder of the Greater New Orleans Citizens Relief Team. Her advocacy model has her working alongside the unhoused community in New Orleans, and prioritizes collaboration over optics- an ethos that continues to shape her iconic acumen.
